Why this works

An oversized denim jacket is the easiest piece of vintage to wear today, because it was never meant to fit close. The trick is contrast. Put something soft and fluid underneath, like a satin slip skirt, and the jacket reads as intentional instead of borrowed.

Keep the base simple: a white ribbed tank, one warm metal, and a shoe with some weight to it. Three pieces from your closet and one great vintage find.

Check the fit before you buy

This jacket measures 46 inches around the chest with 21-inch shoulders. For a jacket you’ll layer over a sweater, look for about 4 inches more than your bust measurement. That makes it a comfortable fit for a bust of roughly 38–42 inches.

The shoulders are dropped on purpose, so don’t worry if they sit past your own shoulder line. That’s the 90s shape.
